OI FAMÍLIA!!!!!
Welp this was the last week of the
transfer and today is a whole new beginning. I will stay em Parque Bristol
but not with Sister Lima......I am super excited that I will be staying here
because I love Parque Bristol but at the same time a bit sad that Sister Lima
will leave. We became really close, and we had been through so much together
and it was absolutely wonderful while it lasted. My new companion's name is
Sister Sobrinho (and that's all I know about her hahaha). I am excited to get
to know her!
Então this week, we worked really
hard and finished out the transferência strong with a lot of novos
investigators. We are trying to really grow our grupo de ensino and find the
people who really quer.(care) We started teaching Isac's mom and that is
going wonderfully! She has come to church these past two domingos and is
really enjoying it. She has a desire to learn more and what's even better is
that she has Isac to help her! She works throughout the week and gets home
late so we aren't able to visit her as much as we would like to but with
Isac, it makes it a bit easier to know how she's doing and have him do things
(like pray, read the Book of Mórmon) with her.
We are still working with Reneane
and Anderson to get them married. We are just waiting for he documento de
nascimento(Marriage license) to get here from where she used to live and it's
taking forever. This week we found out that it got sent back to her mom and
are going to try another way to get it here as fast as possible. But they are
at church every domingo firme e fortes and are seeing a lot of changes in
their lives since they have started to come to church. It's been great to
help them along and see their progress.
OH and this week I SAW ELDER
HILHCIE! It was superly fantastically awesome!!! I remember when we were
driving past the templo, I looked out the onibus and saw tons of
missionaries. I looked at Sister Lima e exclaimed "my brother's in there
somewhere!" My heart started to beat faster and as we started to walk on
the temple grounds, I got super anxious to see him. But we weren't finding
him. Until I looked to the side and saw a tall Elder looking at me. I started
to really focus on him and realized that it was Elder Hilchie!! He started to
run towards me and I to him and we gave each other the biggest hug ever!
Sister Lima said that when this happened, all the missionaries looked at us
like "what are they doing?! Elderes and sisteres can't hug...." but
after we let go, a lot of missionaries started to come up to us and once we
explained that we were siblings, they got mais relaxed and thought that was
super awesome. It was great to see him!!! We took some pictures, talked a bit
and then it was time to go. Just as he was about to enter into the templo, he
said "tchau" and made a coração(heart) with his hands hahaha. And
now, só em 2 anos.(2 years)
I hope you all have the best week
ever!! Love you all!!
Love,
Sister Hilchie :)
I couldn't retrieve the pictures that were sent, I will have them next week. I am very excited to see them together!!!

Goodness! (Elder Hilchie)
Oh my goodness, they do not give us
any time to email and it is stressing me out, I apologize in advance if I do
not email you personally today, just please send me another email reminding me
please:P
Alright, so I did in fact make it safe to
Brazil, although I was not in the group picture because I was sound asleep
upstairs. The food is still pretty good here, lots of beans and rice, but really
good rice. Oh, and there is this weird track that is super narrow, I’ll take a
picture of it and send it next week. I’m learning Portuguese pretty quickly, a
lot faster than I should be, which is fantastic. Still cannot understand super-fast
Portuguese though.
There was a devotional by Elder
Bednar that we watched here and I saw the people from my zone who sang in the choir,
which was pretty dang awesome, I miss you guys!!!!!!! The devotional was on how
to study general conference in greater depth by using `the Bednar Matrix`
(there is supposed to be quotation marks, but I cannot find them on this
keyboard) so first you identify the doctrine or principle of the talk, then you
find the invitation and then you find the promised blessings within the talk. Sometimes
you do have to search for them, but it is pretty cool to see that that is how
the apostles today teach, just as Jesus taught. And the whole plan thing that
happened in the premortal world? God made the plan and presented it, and Satan
rebelled against it and tried to amend it. It wasn’t choosing between Jesus´s
plan or Lucifer’s plan, it was either choosing to follow God or rebel against
Him. And now it is our job as missionaries to bring people to the Gospel and
back to our Heavenly Father. Just food for thought.
Some of the people from the Provo
MTC zone came this week, which was pretty nice, hopefully they are adjusting
well and learning a lot of Portuguese.
And so today, I just so happened to stumble
upon Sister Hilchie at the Sao Paulo temple!!!!!! (It may have been planned,
just a little bit) it was awesome, and I’m pretty sure we scared a few of the
missionaries, but then we told them we were brother and sister and then it made
sense. So I talked to her for a while, she gave me some really good advice, we
took some pictures together, it was very fun. Super crazy though, didn’t really
believe it was her for a minute, I mean we are in a different country and
both serving missions!!!!! Super awesome, oh and Sister Hilchie is most definitely
losing some of her English because she kept on saying Portuguese words. Hopefully
she will send some pictures in her email, and then next week I’ll send some
pictures too. Well, love you guys!!!! Hope all is super-duper well!! Keep me
updated!!!

From the Brazil CTM
This is Tyler's email Oct. 12, 2016. His pdays are Wed for now. He will head out to Juiz de Fora on October 25. Then everything will change again!!
Well, I’m here at Brazil!!!! Just at
the CTM though, but still super awesome!! There is super good food here, and
really nice people. It is pretty humid and hot and everyone speaks fluent Portuguese,
but that’s still pretty awesome! I’ll be able to fully acclimatize to the environment.
Oh, but the biggest downfall is that you only get 45 minutes to email here and
you can’t send pictures for some weird reason or another. Went to the temple in
Campinas today, it was really nice. It took like an hour drive to get there so
we got to see some of Brazil, lots of greenery, and red brick houses. Like the
jungle comes all the way up to the edge of the city, it is pretty cool. Very
pretty. Not a lot has happened thus far, mostly because after the flight here, I
was super tired and now I can’t remember much of what happened yesterday. Oh
yeah, so while I was in the room, I thought I heard a gunshot, so I asked one
of the Brazilians what it was and he said it was fireworks and that they set
them off randomly. Traffic is crazy here, and if you have a motorcycle, you can
cut through all the traffic in between the cars. Hopefully I’ll have better
stories next week, I’ll make sure to write them down. I do miss the Provo MTC,
love the missionaries down there, the zone was awesome. Had many fun times and
great memories. Love you guys! Hope to hear from you!!
