6 MESES!!!!

AHHHH FAMÍLIA!! FELIZ FEVEREIRO!!

So despite the fact that this week was hot like no other, we ended January on a high note! We worked really hard this week and were able to get a lot done (which is always good)! But what was really exciting was Julius' baptism!!! We had his baptism after church yesterday and there were a lot of members there to support him. The members are great with him! They are so welcoming and we have a couple families who are studying English so they are able to practice their English on him while he practices Portuguese with them. But anyways, the baptism was great and as he stepped into the water, there was the biggest grin on his face! His desire to follow his Savior is amazing to see and to see him make that first step, to open that first door that will lead him along the straight and narrow path was pretty awesome. I have learned a lot as we have been teaching Julius and who knew that my knowing English would come in handy all the way in Brasil?!

This Friday I also completed 6 MONTHS! Wow.... time really has flown by. These past 6 months have been amazing. I have learned so much and am so very grateful that I decided to serve a mission! I can't wait to see what's in store this year!

One last thing. So we have been teaching one of Lucas' friends, Wesley and man is he awesome também! His desire to be baptized is really strong and the other day, we visited him and asked him how his prayers were coming along and how he felt. He told us that he felt really good. So good that his dreams were different (in a more upbeat, positive kind of way) and that he really wants to be baptized. But we have a tiny problem.....his parents are separated, so his mom lives in our area but his dad lives in another. And although his mom is supportive of his decision, his dad isn't. His dad is a pastor of another church and says that the Church of Jesus Christ isn't a church of God...and doesn't want him to have anything to do with the church. But since he is at his mom's house on the weekends, he comes to church every Sunday with Lucas and is starting to read the Book of Mormon with him. And since we need permission of both parents for him to be baptized, we are going to send a set of elders over to try to talk to his dad. We'll see how that goes.

I am so grateful I am a missionary guys! It is so super duper awesome to help others come unto Christ and watch their lives change because of the gospel. I know that the gospel can change lives. I've seen it happen again and again and it's amazing to watch! I hope you all have a wonderfully fantastic week! I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!

Love, Sister Hilchie :)
